Shanon earned her Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from Grand Valley State University and her Master of Business Administration from Rasmussen University, where she focused on healthcare leadership and quality improvement. She brings over a decade of experience in healthcare and behavioral health, serving in both clinical and administrative capacities.
Throughout her career, Shanon has worked in acute psychiatric care, long-term rehabilitation, outpatient behavioral health, and community-based therapy programs, as well as in leadership and quality improvement roles. Her professional journey has been guided by a commitment to treating the whole person, integrating evidence-based recreation therapy with mindfulness, creative expression, and goal-oriented leisure engagement.
Shanon believes that recreational therapy can empower individuals to find joy, meaning, and purpose in everyday life, helping clients rediscover what they can do through activities that foster confidence, connection, and independence.
Outside of work, Shanon enjoys spending time with her two children, traveling, hand knitting, exercising, and spending time outdoors with her dog, Juicy.
