Sarah Vasquez
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Sarah is an Illinois native who graduated from the University of Iowa’s Therapeutic Recreation program in 2019. During her time in college, she volunteered in dementia care and worked at The Arc with individuals with disabilities, providing respite services and job coaching. She was also involved with Iowa City’s Special Recreation Department, where she coached Special Olympics and taught adaptive recreation classes.
For her internship, Sarah moved to Florida to work in behavioral health. After graduating, she began her career at the University of Florida Rehab Hospital as a Recreational Therapist and Patient Experience Specialist. She has since worked at the VA with veterans, in assisted living, and briefly in community settings before joining HCRT.
Sarah is currently a part-time stay-at-home mom and part-time CTRS. In her free time, she loves exploring small towns, discovering new coffee shops, taking her son to play dates, attending community events, and enjoying family day trips. She also had a brief (but enthusiastic!) Pilates phase.
Sarah loves recreational therapy because she is passionate about helping others live fulfilling, meaningful lives, reminding them that injuries or disabilities don’t have to limit their ability to thrive.
