Kati Roberts

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

In her free time, Kati enjoys spending time with her husband, Frisbee golfing, rollerblading, snowboarding, crocheting, and doing absolutely anything in, on, or around the water. Kati believes that how we spend our free time speaks a lot about us as people. It is her goal to help clients find that voice again. Kati’s internship at DMC’s Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan provided her with a clinical experience working on the neuroscience inpatient unit. In this setting, Kati was able to assess patients and create individualized treatment plans for them during their stay in order to prepare them for living a fulfilling life after a disability.

While at Grand Valley, Kati completed a fieldwork at a camp for kids with visual impairments. In this setting, Kati programmed many adaptive activities, taught survival swimming skills, and created a sensory garden for campers to experience. Kati graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation in 2015 and is a member of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association.

Kati has experience working with populations such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, visual impairments, deaf/hard of hearing, geriatrics, and pediatrics.
